Guided Field Trips

Guided trips are scheduled in (2-3) hour blocks on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. *(Mondays availability the month of May)

10 AM - 1 PM
12 PM - 3 PM

NOTE: There is no longer a Base Rate Fee. Cancelation fee: $50.00 no-show/cancellation fee will be applied. Please utilize our digital field trip form located on our website to book your trip.

Groups can schedule a lunch period when they book their trip. Groups larger than 40 may have a split lunch period due to space restrictions. A $50 cleaning fee will also be charged if groups have lunch in our room.
Self-Guided Field Trips

Self-guided trips are scheduled during normal business hours Thursday - Sunday.
Recommend for groups 15 - 50 people. Groups are welcome to stay as long as the museum is open.

Self-guided groups can bring a packed lunch or purchase lunch in the Discovery Cafe. There is limited seating available in the Discovery Cafe and Mezzanine. Groups may have to eat in shifts.
Makerspace Field Trips

Trips are scheduled in (2) hour blocks Monday - Friday at the availability of our STEAM Manager.

Learning is more fun with friends!
Some of the best childhood memories are made with friends! If you’re a school administrator, group leader, or even a parent who wants to organize a group trip to Discovery World, we’d love to have you! Beginning August 1st 2025, group rates for field trips are $7 per person, no base rate and due on the day of their field trip. Schools are welcome to pay with a purchase order to avoid refunds due to missing students on the day of their trip to Discovery World. Schools and groups will be expected to return a signed Field Trip Agreement to reserve their date.
Reservations are required and group rates apply to 15 or more children. Our calendar books quickly, we recommend booking at least 2 months in advance during off season and 6 months in advance for peak field trip season (April and May).
United Way Scholarship
Through a grant from the United Way Alliance of the Mid-Ohio Valley, your field trip is free to Discovery World on Market if your group is from Jackson, Wirt, Roane, or Calhoun County.
Use this scholarship code UW25/26 during booking to receive additional information regarding the scholarship fund.
Henry Logan Scholarship
Through a grant from the Henry Logan Children’s Home Fund, your mobile field trip is free for a visit from the STEAM Machine if your group is from Wood County.

The Antero Foundation Scholarship
Through a grant from the Antero Foundation, your mobile field trip is free for a visit from the STEAM Machine if your group is from Wirt, Ritchie, Pleasants, Tyler and Doddridge Counties.
